Yay! My favorite month of the year is here! I wanted to pop-in and share a neat things I'm doing over at Instagram this month - 31 Days of Pulp Horror Art! Last year, I did "Pulp Sushi Does Halloween" on Instagram as a month long promotion for my Etsy shop. It was fun. This year I wanted to do something similar without the pressure of selling anything.
When I talk about "Pulp Art" I am talking about the style of art used for pulp publications in the late 19th/early 20th century. "Pulp" magazines were fictional publications published from the late 1890s to the 1950s and the word "Pulp" comes from the cheap type of paper the books were published on. Regardless of how ridiculous the stories were (which the cover art may reflect), you have to appreciate the work that went into designing these covers.
I love stories about monsters, damsels in distress, mad scientists, demons and goblins so I thought it would be fun to show some fun horror based pulp covers this month. Follow along on Instagram @marilyn_coffeeink to check it out!
